MeltingPot are an Irish band based in Lisbon, Portugal. Their music is a high octane mix of Irish folk, traditional and world music. With MeltingPot, the emphasis is always on audience interaction and making a party.
The band formed in 2003 when Carlos (violin) and Billy (Voice and Guitar) were joined by Alix (Percussion).
Due to the bands’ mixture of influences and cultures (Carlos from Zimbabwe, Billy from Ireland and Alix from France) the name MeltingPot seemed appropriate and stuck.
Over the years, new members have all brought their unique influences to the bands overall sound.
MeltingPots music is the culmination of this mixture of styles and personal influences.
In May 2005 the band did a blitz recording session and recorded their first studio album. The album was recorded in one night and titled: “The Rights of Man”.
The band was back recording again in 2013 with their second album “Melting Point”. The album was recorded live in O’Gilins Irish Bar with a view to try and capture the energy of the band and the audience.
MeltingPot have played all over Portugal, its islands and much of Europe. We cater to all types of events from World Music festivals, Major Festivals such as Rock in Rio, to corporate events and weddings.
MeltingPot are currently the resident band in O’Gilins Irish Bar, Cais do Sodré, Lisbon.
